Your union, the Public Service Alliance of Canada and the Yukon Employees' Union, is conducting a strike vote on January 12-13, 2026.
A positive strike vote would authorize the union to call a strike in early March if we do not have a deal by then. While we hope that we would not have to use it, getting a positive strike vote is critical to show the employer that members are serious and that we need them to provide us with a better offer.
In meanwhile, we have three strike preparation meetings organized:
Save the date, Strike Vote - January 12-13, 2026.
Stay tuned, more details to come. This is an important vote, and we strongly encourage all members to participate.

Your bargaining team has filed for conciliation. Doing so moves the process along and sends a clear message to the employer that we are not willing to settle for what they have offered us.
The primary issue that remains outstanding is wages.

Your bargaining team met the employer this week. We were hopeful that we could resolve the agreement, but we remain far apart on the financial terms.

Thank you to everyone that attended the July 31st Bargaining Input Meeting. We were able to share our bargaining survey input, address some member concerns, and successfully select our bargaining team.
We are pleased to announce our newly elected team:
- Community Representative – MaryAnn Ferguson
- Faculty Representative – Dr.Michael Ross
- Support Staff Representative – Jennifer Harkes
- Additional Faculty Representative – Amanda Graham
- YUEU President – Stacy Savage
There have been vocalized concerns of ensuring equal representation of support staff and faculty on the bargaining team and the membership voted on adding an additional faculty member to the team. The additional member will be funded by our local and we will be addressing the need of fair representation by amending our bylaws to capture this.
Our team brings a welcome balance of new individuals as well as two members that have been involved in past negotiations. We met with our PSAC Negotiator, Seth Sazant, August 26th & 27th to discuss all bargaining input and prioritize member concerns. We are scheduled to meet with the employer the first week of November and continue to plan on hosting several educational sessions before and throughout negotiations.
The bargaining input we received highlighted the importance of keeping members informed of items already covered in the collective agreement as well as mechanisms to address concerns with existing processes. We will be compiling data on all bargaining topics that we are unable to prioritize this round and providing rationale on why these items have not been selected to bring forward in our proposals.
In solidarity,
Stacy Savage

YEU has recently launched a new website featuring exciting new tools to help us engage with our members, including secure email and text messaging.
The Yukon College Employee's Union currently uses our employer's email platform to communicate with our membership. YCEU believes it's time to change the way we are talking to each other. We want to engage and communicate with our members securely and confidentially.
