Our union (or any union) can be placed in a history and context. Trade, craft, and industrial unions - and other forms of worker associations that have been part of Labour Movement traditions all over the world - each have their unique character and style, as well as things they all tend to share.
Come to this evening of Local Y010’s Union Night School. We are going to watch Pride, which is a 2014 historical comedy-drama film written by Stephen Beresford and directed by Matthew Warchus.
We are excited to meet you!
Background:
Upon watching the news about the Welsh miners' strike of 1984, gay activist Mark Ashton realises that the police have stopped harassing the gay community because they're harassing the miners instead.
Solidarity right there.
Let’s learn a little bit of Labour History and take note of the current state of affairs.
Join your fellow workers for this night school version of the teacher wheeling in the AV cart for a film…everyone wins.
These are drop-in, peer-to-peer union education nights organized by members of YEU/PSAC Local Y010. Union Night School is free for all working and unemployed people to attend; YEU members’ wages are not covered to attend these volunteer-produced evening events.
