We are starting to hear rumblings about back to work planning. While we all look forward to a return to normal, we know the devil is in the details, and safety considerations must guide any move toward the re-opening of workplaces.
A few worksites have already reopened in the Yukon, and we are maintaining lines of communication with affected members, doing our best to ensure they are safe at work. If you are advised it's time to get back to your workplace, please let us know, and of course if you are concerned a return is unsafe, we'll look into those concerns.
There have been lots of positives lately in the Yukon - we see many great new initiatives and caring actions that shine a light on the fact that we're all here for each other when times are tough.
We didn't talk about it at the time, but in March when everything started to get real, YEU made an emergency $5,000 donation to the Whitehorse Food Bank. They've been stretched pretty thin through this deepening crisis, and they have been incredible at meeting demand. Many local organizations, businesses and individuals have stepped up to help the food bank meet the growing need for emergency food support.
We have links below to online training and discussion sessions - hopefully we'll keep connected in new ways. For all that this has been a difficult time, increased access to online training and tools has definitely been a positive outcome.
Great news - YEU will be running a pilot project for the PSAC, offering a suite of online training for our Shop Stewards. We'll share the details soon, once all our modules and dates are finalized.

Feeling lonely? You can call 'Let's Chat Yukon,' to talk with a "volunteer chatter." This is not a counselling service or a place to turn for medical advice. It's more like having a friend to chat with over coffee, even if you've never met before. This great idea could go a long way toward helping ease the stress of isolation.
To chat with someone or to become a "volunteer chatter" call 1-877-321-1001 or 867-322-2772.
Hang in there; the sun is back, the temperatures are warming and the Yukon has done a terrific job of keeping this virus under control. So long as we remember the importance of maintaining physical distancing and washing our hands, we can get outside and enjoy some time in nature.
Have a great weekend - call your Mom, if you can. Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers; birth moms, step-moms, adopted moms, grandmas, aunties, best friend moms and everyone who steps in and steps up to show that special love and support.
Stay well, play safe, and wash your hands.
