For most of us, knowing what the wording in the Collective Agreement really means can be a challenge. Yet, the Collective Agreement is the most important document in a unionized member's working life. Every member should get a copy when they are hired but most will likely never read it and they will come to you as a Shop Steward with questions. At this month's virtual SSRT, we'll review the most important aspects of this important tool and de-mystify the complicated parts so that you can navigate the Collective Agreement with more confidence and share your knowledge with your co-workers. It's especially important to know what rights are already there before proposals for changing the CA are developed in advance of negotiations.
