Help our veterans stop Veterans Affairs office closures.

Join the struggle as Canada’s Veterans work to convince the Harper Government to maintain services and keep these offices open. Our Veterans deserve our respect, and we vow to stand with them in their fight. They, after all, have spent their lives fighting for us.

You can help veterans stop the closure of the Veterans Affairs offices in their communities. In the lead-up to Remembrance Day and beyond, PSAC members will be working with veterans to organize awareness-raising events in their communities and to urge Members of Parliament to speak out against the decision to close these offices.

How the Canadian government is betraying veterans

The federal government is betraying Canada’s veterans by shutting down nine Veterans Affairs offices in Charlottetown, Corner Brook, Sydney, Thunder Bay, Windsor, Brandon, Saskatoon, Prince George and Kelowna. This means our veterans will have a harder time getting the support and services they need and deserve.

“I am a young veteran living with PTSD. Veterans are not dying out – there are hundreds more just like me who are struggling with our day to day lives. We need accessible face-to-face services from Veterans Affairs to do that.” – Terry Collins (47, Sydney)

“They tell me that I will need to drive for seven and a half hours to get one-on-one services. What a profound disservice of veterans like me.” – Ron Clarke (73, Sydney)

“Telling us to drive for hours or rely on the phone or a web site for help is a profound betrayal of veterans young and old. Veterans need and deserve one-on-one help.” – Michael Barnewell (32, Windsor)

“I have spent more than 70 years supporting veterans through the Royal Canadian Legion. This government needs to stop taking away their services.” – Roy Lamore (87, Thunder Bay)
