The labour movement has a solid history of fighting racism and promoting human rights at work and in society. Whether it's pay equity for women doing the same job as men or full contractual rights for same sex partners, unions have worked with community allies fighting against injustices. As Shop Stewards, we know that we are most effective when we are seen as champions for equality at work. Being an ally for equality and equity seeking groups means playing a supportive role and taking the lead from the group we are supporting.

In this Round Table, we explore what it means to be an ally, and ways that we can step up as allies in the workplace and the union.
