The tentative collective agreement successfully negotiated by PSAC on behalf of the Border Services unit within Customs and Immigration Union is a significant triumph for Canadian labour.
YEU President Steve Geick believes congratulations are definitely in order. No other Treasury Board group held out as long as the Border Security (FB Bargaining Group) did to maintain benefits. It took 30 months of negotiations, four final offers, petition drives, picketing, a final offer forced vote thrown out by the courts, a filing of unfair labour practice complaints and a final, around-the-clock 28 hour bargaining session to win a deal.
Highlights of the Tentative Agreement can be viewed on the PSAC website.
